Assessment

A careful, structured look at how you or your child is growing, learning and behaving.

What it is

An assessment helps us understand strengths, challenges and needs. We gather information through conversation, observation and structured activities, then explain what we found in plain language. The result is a clear starting point for any support that follows.

Who it may help

  • A child whose development seems different from that of peers
  • A student who struggles with learning, attention or behavior at school
  • Anyone who wants clarity before deciding on therapy

What happens

  1. 1

    Intake conversation

An intake conversation about your concerns and history.

  2. 2

    Observation and activities

Observation and structured activities suited to the person's age.

  3. 3

    Feedback session

A feedback session where we explain the findings and recommended next steps.

What you can expect afterward

You leave with a clear understanding of strengths and needs and a recommended plan. That plan may include therapy at Recreo or elsewhere.

Questions about assessment

How long does an assessment take?

It depends on the person and the concern. We will explain the schedule when you book.

Does an assessment lead to therapy?

Not always. We recommend therapy only when it will help, and you decide whether to go ahead.
